FAQs
-
We gather for worship on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am. The service lasts about one hour.
-
Some of us dress business casual, some wear jeans, and some wear more relaxed clothes. Wear whatever clothes you feel comfortable in, and you’ll fit right in!
-
Our parking lot has entrances on N. Lowell Rd., behind the church, and Church Rd. to the right of the church. Park your car, and head in through our double glass doors, located adjacent to the parking lot. From there, our greeters will direct you upstairs to the sanctuary where we have our worship services.
-
You are invited to join us for coffee and donuts after the service! And if you would like to stay in touch, fill out one of our welcome cards located in the pews during the service, and place it in the offering basket. You can also reach out to us any time through our Contact Us page!
-
Yes! We warmly welcome children during our worship services.
For infants and toddlers, ages 0 - 3, We have nursery care available during the service.
Children grades K-5 begin the service with their family in the sanctuary. We value the shared experience of families in worship! Then, children are invited to come up front for our Children’s Chat. After the Chat, children may go downstairs for Sunday School or remain with their parents.
On the first Sunday of each month we have children stay for the full service and provide them with relevant activity and coloring pages.
-
Yes!
We have a lift to assist people in traveling between floors, wide doors, accessible bathrooms on both floors, and designated parking available.
What to Expect
A typical Sunday morning at Windham Presbyterian Church:
When you Arrive
-
Parking is available in the parking lot which is both adjacent to the church and behind it. Additional space is available across Church Road in the town’s parking lot.
When you approach either the parking lot entrance or Church Rd. entrance, a friendly face will be there to point you in the right direction!
-
Our worship service space, the Sanctuary, is located on the upper level of our building. It is accessible from the parking lot and from Church Road.
From the parking lot: Enter the double glass doors on the side of the building and into the main foyer. Go up the stairs, turn left, and walk down the hall through the double doors.
From Church Road: In the front of the church building you will see two green doors. Enter the one on the left.
-
When you enter the Sanctuary, you will be greeted by ushers and see the seating area with benches or pews on the main floor. There is also a raised area for seating in the rear of the Sanctuary. Please feel free to sit wherever you would like to sit. We have space for you. We have been waiting for you to join us!
During the Service
-
There will be times for singing as a congregation and special music, prayers, greeting, ministry moments, a children’s chat, reading the Scripture, and preaching. Our services are about one hour in length.
-
Our worship team leads us in a blended service of praise music, traditional hymns and an anthem by our choir. The congregation is invited to stand and sing at various points so that we together can lift our voices in praise and thanksgiving to God.
-
On the first Sunday of each month we celebrate the Lord’s Supper (also known as Holy Communion or the Eucharist). All of our communion elements are gluten free.
Occasionally, we will have a baptism, a special speaker, or send out a team to serve.
For Kids
-
Just before the start of the service, kids and adults ring the historic bell, installed in 1847, to announce the beginning of worship and that all are welcome.
-
Our nursery is located on your right when you enter the building from our parking lot. Our Nursery Caretaker, Nancy Lynch, and one of our qualified, background-checked, volunteers provide care for little ones, ages 0 - 3. You can drop your little ones off when you arrive, or partway through the service - whichever you prefer!
-
During every Sunday Morning service, we have a short message just for children! After singing together, children will be invited to come sit at the front of the sanctuary, participate in our Children’s Chat, and then are dismissed to go downstairs to Sunday School (or return to their seats and stay with their families if preferred)!
-
During the service, after our Children’s Chat, children in preschool through grade 5 can go downstairs to attend our Sunday School! Led by a skilled, dedicated, and background-checked team of volunteers and our NextGen Ministries Director, Sunday School is a kid-centered chance to learn about following Jesus! At Sunday School, we get to learn together, and then enjoy a craft or activity together that reinforces what we’ve learned. Children are picked up from Sunday School right after the service ends.
After the Service
-
Immediately after the worship service ends, parents can head down to our Sunday School classrooms where children will be dismissed to their parent or guardian.
-
Each week after the worship service, everyone is invited to come downstairs for coffee and donuts. This is a great time to meet people and simply enjoy being with each other.
Beyond Sundays
-
We provide weekly opportunities for youth and adults to meet during the week, along with special events for children & families seasonally!
-
If you want to connect with and learn more about God and Christianity beyond Sunday mornings, we hope this can be a helpful starting point:
-
We offer chances to serve with our ministry partners and organizations on a regular or occasional basis. There are also volunteer opportunities within our congregation.
